This consists of a collection of Victorian works published by John Camden Hotten. They are reprints of eighteenth century pornography on flagellation, primarily by dominant women in positions of authority. The official date of publication is claimed to be 1777, but this is probably to avoid prosecution under the prevalent laws on indecency.
Hotten claimed to have found them in the library of Henry Thomas Buckle (1821–1862) but Henry Spencer Ashbee counterclaimed that they were in fact from his collection, a claim borne out by their being listed in Ashbee's own published Bibliography.
The 7th volume was not added until the 4th Edition, and as yet I have not been able to source the text of 'Fashionable Lectures'.
